While the USFS forest supervisor argues in favor of the Upper Lochsa Land Exchange, people like John Krebs of Potlatch and Roger Inghram of the Grangeville area have challenged much of what the Forest Service has proposed for exchange. In particular, Inghram wants the upper reaches of the American River near Elk City excluded. Krebs, a retired Forest Service fire management officer, wants all of the proposed exchange acres on the Palouse Ranger District kept in public ownership.
